From Hoi An, we took an open sleeper bus to Hanoi, passing through Danang and Hue.

Danang is about 25 km from Hoi An and boasts an interesting feature: the Marble Mountain.

There's a huge cave that one can explore.

Be prepared for some climbing though.

The shops around the mountain sold marble figurines and accessories made of marble or other precious stones.

This is our 2-deck sleeper bus.

The backseats are designed to fit 5 persons together comfortably so we requested for those.

Pretty cosy.

Throughout the bus journey, I enjoyed many hours of staring wide-eyed at the stunning views of the countryside.

We stopped at Hue for 5 hours to stretch our legs, grab a bite and do some shopping.

Hue is in central Vietnam.

A wide river cuts across the city.

We chilled by the river for a bit before grabbing snacks and lunch and getting new haircuts.

What Hue lacks in natural features it makes up for with beautifully constructed Buddhist temples and yes, good food and shopping.

The streets were also gaily decorated with bright pink fabric lotuses hanging from the trees.

I will remember Hue for having really wonderful french pastries.

This chocolate tart was perfect. Lush, thick dark chocolate encased in a buttery, crumbly, thin pastry shell.

Pineapple cake.

Freshly squeezed orange juice and apple tart.

At the Mandarin Cafe.

The walls were covered with gorgeous photography taken by the cafe's owner.

Two plates of seafood noodles.

Laughing cow. Aidil loves his la vache qui rit cheese.

Vegetable crepe.

Dong Da Market!

The 2 storey market sells everything from fresh produce, meat and seafood, household items, jewellery and yes, textiles!

There were ready made
ao dai but these weren't very exclusive in their design and cutting.

We bought Vietnamese silk for Aidil's mom and younger sister, Azura for USD$20 each. The fabric designs were gorgeous.

For myself, I bought a yellow floral silk and satin set and had an
ao dai sewn for Hari Raya (Eid). I sent it to a tailor in Hanoi who completed it in 1 day and charged me only USD$20. The
ao dai fitted so perfectly that I did not need to send it for further alterations after the first fitting. I was very pleased. The tailor also said that another customer saw my
ao dai and wanted one for herself in the same material.
So yup, I am definitely going back to Hue for textiles and I am definitely going to tailor more clothes in Vietnam. =)

We had a very fruitful 5 hours in Hue. I could not ask for more. =)
