But, expert-sports-car-driver Shazana reacted like an expert-sports-car-driver-minus-the-expertise, saved the day.
This is what happened - We were about to enter AYE from a flyover. It was an extremely sharp right turn into the expressway from the flyover. Shaz being the expert-sports-car-driver-minus-the-expertise thought she was driving a sports-car and she maintained a 70km/h at a sharp-turn. Unfortunately, she was driving a bulky MPV-like Kia Carens.
What happened next was perhaps my calmest reaction to a near-death experience. The centrifugal force pushed the car so close to the kerb AND a huge pole. The car headed right into the pole. But Shaz being the expert-sports-car-driver-without-the-expertise instinctively swerved the car back onto the lane. You thought that was the end? No... The near death experience ended for her. But it still continued for a few seconds for me.
The centrifugal force was sooo great the car slid, while swerving, sideways towards the pole (i.e. if the car had hit the pole on its side, I would have been killed or at least my left side would have been crushed). But Shaz the expert-sports-car-driver-without-the-expertise managed to control the car and guide it back onto the road. Bravo! Next stop - Daytona Circuit!
I was quite amazed at how calm I was at the near-death experience. I wasn't screaming.. in fact, I wasn't even saying anything but "wow...". Or something to that effect.
But the traffic stress didn't end there. I made her drive through Little India on a Saturday. Remember - only drivers like Shaz who is an the expert-sports-car-driver-without-the-expertise should drive through Little India that is sprawling with so many foreign workers who think they are still in India. Just check out Shaz's stressed out reactions driving through Little India.
Foreign workers at Little India have this impression that we treat them like cows in India - i.e. we avoid them at all costs. They will cross the road (jaywalk!!) at any time and at any point. Your senses better be heightened here. The point is - you will not know when someone will suddenly scoot right infront of you. They are so annoying - especially when they cross the road just to talk to their friend FOR A FEW SECONDS and then CROSS BACK to their starting point. This is where I will shout ... "WHAT THE F**K??".

The lesson I have learnt thus far having Shaz drive me around - Aidil, it is time to get your own licence!
P.S. Shaz & Aidil would like to welcome Evi & Hamham to the blogosphere. It's about time you tell us all about your adventures, Lyn!

Hahaha.. that must be quite an experience...!!
Gosh avoid driving thru Lil India la!! It's true that they really have this thought they are crossing some streets in Mumbai or Bangalore and couldn't care less about any traffic there. Surprising other than almost-accidents where the cars probably jammed brakes like 5 inches before knocing anyone down, I have not seen any accidents in the area.
Shaz:
Mann you are one fast and furious driver I suppose. Hahahah.. burning up the rubber swerving around. Hmm.. always thought that woman drivers are .. you know.. rather slow and 'safe'. :)
Edroos help! I cannot control my speeding...MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!

Hahaha my mun is against me driving or even getting a driver's license, because I am prone speedster, and also a road mafia.
Things get out of control, I get out of the car first before anything else happens, and ask for a fight to begin. Hahaha, and yes speeding is such a thrill. I think i play too much road rash when I was a kid.
WOW!! I think I know where that flyover is. But I also think there is a signboard to indicate 50 km zone!! *lol*
Anyway, to Shaz, you've just made me adamant NOT to let my wife drive on the road. :-)
And about the little India thingie, I think the TP should implement that route as one of the test route aye? "And now for the final hurdle, drive through Lil India without knocking anyone down"
Hahahahhaha
nad:
don't mind your mom, get a licence and join the club!!! we could do msian road trip. there we can vroom to our hearts content. =)
katak:
there's a sign? really? lol. goodness....i'm a blind bat.
And if you include Little India in the route, e-brakes would be the standard and the pass rate would plummet drastically. hahaha.
